Why "Kizuna" Canine?

Ask yourself: Why did you get this dog?

What does the dog mean to you?

What is its job going to be?

This is a crucial question that only you can answer. No two dog owners are the same. Some will want to get deep into training their dog. Others will want less.

It is not anyone's place to tell you what this should be. I certainly will not lecture you on how your dog should live, but I can guide you along the way.

"Kizuna" is Japanese for the bonds between living creatures. I worked and lived in Japan for many years (a story for another time). I would presume that you wish to build a deep and lasting connection with your dog.

With a solid foundation of training the basics, you can achieve this. Excellence is mastery of the basics.

The ancient Greek poet Archilochus was quoted to say:

“We don't rise to the level of our expectations, we fall to the level of our training.”

The day will inevitably come when the proverbial hits the fan and you will need a basic level of training in your dog.

It could even be to potentially save the dog's life in a dangerous situation.

You cannot always rely on having your dog on a leash, or always having that leash under your control. But a reflexive "come" or "down" command is achievable and reliable under almost all conditions.

This is all through mastering the basics of behavioural science.

I would encourage you to train your dog so that one day, when you most need it, you have the skills in place that could save its life.

A few training sessions pale in comparison to the cost and anguish of an avoidable trip to the vet.
